Freedom is the inherent nature and the eternal pursuit of mankind. From ancient times, philosophers have explored the issue of freedom tireless. Unlike in the past philosophers, Marx’s concept of freedom with "real people" as a starting point to start, and stressed people real freedom achieved through practice. People get rid of the transformation of the objective world in a variety of practical activities bound to achieve free and conscious activities, so as to achieve harmony and unity as well as the main object of truth, goodness and beauty of harmony and unity, and ultimately the free and full development.This paper attempts to draw relevant research results at home and abroad, of Marx’s concept of freedom to do a brief history of the evolution of comb, to clarify the nature of its development context and ideological characteristics, and a brief assessment of Marxist theory and practical significance of the concept of freedom has. This paper uses literature research, theoretical logic analysis and comparative analysis, reflect the characteristics of philosophical essays, highlighting speculative, outstanding analytical, pay attention to ideological and theoretical heritage accumulated, the theory and practical combination of history, but also to avoid vague abstract discussion. Meanwhile closely the reality of the times, the freedom of thought and the understanding of Marx, try to put forward their views.This paper is divided into four main sections. The first section examines the historical evolution of the Western concept of freedom, a brief introduction before the formation of Marx’s concept of freedom, philosophers and thinkers of Western understanding of freedom. The second part of the formation and development of Marxist and liberal outlook. Marx freethinking historical development as a clue, the main Marx’s concept of freedom into the original form, the development period and maturity period of three phases to examine in order to have an overall liberal ideas of Marx, clear grasp and understand. Part III summarizes the essence of Marx’s concept of freedom of connotation, deep excavation of the main features of Marx’s concept of freedom, reflects on Marx’s concept of freedom and transcendence abandoning predecessors. The fourth part of the reality of the modern concept of Marxist and liberal values. Marx’s concept of freedom is not only characteristic of the socialist road, building a harmonious society guiding significance, but also provides support for our belief that the realization of communism, human practice indicates the pursuit of goals and direction.
