Due to the complexity of the internal and external shocks, the regime of Qing government in the late nineteenth century was stricken. In order to protect the regime, the Qing government had to implement the New Deal, and the revision of law was an important part of the New Deal. In the process of revising the law, the legal on behalf of the innovation and the feudal represented the conservative were arguing about which is the dominant in the revision of law, the Feudalism of tradition or the advanced law of the west. The historic debate throughout the process of revising law, affects not only the transformation of legal thinking in society, but also the practice of amending law. The article describes and analyzes the struggle of the Debates about Feudalism and Law, thus its revelation of the contemporary.The first part- An overview of Debates about Feudalism and Law in the Late Qing Dynasty, describes what is the debate, what is the revision of law and the background of causing the debate.The second part- The focus of the debate. It introduces the main ideological content and opinions of the feudal party and the legal party, making a sharp contrast in several ways.Part III- The comment of the debate. Debates about Feudalism and law, as one of the more influential events in history, reflects the rationality and limitations of the two parties worthy of our study and reflection. It is because of these rationality and limitations affects the effectiveness of the revision of law in the Late Qing Dynasty.Part IV- Inspirations for the Modern. The inspirations to contemporary mainly gets through the above analysis of Debates about Feudalism and Law.
