During the May Fourth Movement, the advanced elements of China selected and accepted Marxism from the failure lessons of the democratic revolution of the old type and the fresh successful experience of the October Revolution of Russia. The direct cause of the selection and acceptance of Marxism came from the realistic necessity of resolving problems faced in China. As a result, the spreading of Marxism in China contact with the sinicization of Marxism. Except for the part of preface, the essay will discuss the theme in three sections.The first part:The historical situation of sinicization of Marxism in the May Fourth Period will be discussed from the objective need of the Chinese revolution and the historical context of cinicization of the May Fourth period.The second part:Sinicization naturally came into being in the spreading of Marxism.First, the spreading of Marxism laid the ideological foundation for the sinicization of Marxism and bred the body of basic force. Second, the selected translation and introduction of the Marxist documents and the cognition of Marxism thus formed was already the reconstructed sinicized Marxist system. To spread Marxism in the masses of workers and peasants and make it popularized was already in silent development. Third, in the comparison, identification and debate with socialist ideological trends of all schools,the problem was settled as to whether Marxism could meet all the needs in China. Finally,the basic ideology of Marxism combined with China’s reality came into being.The third part:The importance is attached to the discussion of initial achievement of the sinicization of Marxism in the May Fourth period. The foundation of the Communist Party of China in 1921 marked the most important practical and political achievement of sinicization of Marxism.
