A Survey Of Mao Zedong’s Poetry Studies

Mao Zedong is not only the great leader of whole Chinese, but also an outstanding poet. His poetry compositions contributes to Chinese literary arts and even world culture.Mao Zedong creates these poetry through the method of combining revolutionary realism with romanticism. Mao uses the art form of Chinese classical poetry and all of his poetry is regarded as a shining star in the Chinese modern poetry. Since Edgar snow,who has brought Mao’s poem, "long march" to the whole world by report and books from interviews in northern shaanxi during the Anti-Japanese War, Mao’s poetry has been discovered, and then published, exposed to the people. Thus, Mao Zedong is not only a great statesman, thinker, military, but also a great poet.Throughout the research of Mao’s poetry, with his poems published in succession, the whole academia gradually gives more and more appreciation, reviews and research on his poetry. The existing research outcomes of Mao’s poetry mainly focus on the artistic characteristics, features of Mao’s thought, value and the national emotion, feelings of his time concluded in poems. It is quite necessary to review and summarize Mao’s poetry while there have been some outcomes of researches on it.This thesis is mainly divided into four parts. The first chapter will combine content of Mao’s poetry and its creation background. According to the different historical period, the historical process of the study of Mao’s poems will be summarized on the whole. The second chapter focuses on two peaks that occur in the process of studying Mao’s poetry;The third chapter will analyzes the core of the aesthetic problem during the study of Mao’s poetry from three aspects, that is, sentiment, history and scene; The fourth chapter discusses significance of studying Mao’s poems.This thesis is not trying to build a "research and development history" of studying Mao’s poetry, but with Mao’s poetry as a breakthrough point, exploring the related text of the research on Mao’s poetry since more than half a century ago. And on this basis,according to the appreciation and comments given by researchers of Mao’s poetry,analyzing literary value and significance of Mao’s poetry under the great context of the era.
