Research On The Temperance Thought Under The View Of Ecological Ethics

Ecological Ethics emphasizes friendly relationship and harmonious coexistence between human and nature. It advocates respecting for nature, conforms to its inherent law of development, controls the use of resources and cherishes the protection of nature. It aims to realize the purposes of ecological health and harmonious development between human and nature. At present, people’s mode of production, lifestyles, values and beliefs are changed profoundly along with the deepening reform and opening up and the further development of market economy. People’s greediness expands unlimitedly; hedonism and the thought of material superlative prevail. The unrestrained desire and excessive request for nature not only lead to the exhaustion of personal mind and body and the disorder of life, but also threat the human living environment. Therefore, it is both a necessary requirement of the development of ecological ethics and the demand of times for the cultivation of Temperance Thought to include the research of Temperance Thought into ecological ethics system.The Temperance Thought of China and the West provides a strong theoretical basis and a practical approach to the construction of our country’s ecological civilization; it offers an ideological guidance to restrain the greediness of people and promote the relationship between human and nature. It also provides a theoretical support for the construction of "Beautiful China". Based on the above understanding, this paper uses a unified approach of history and logic. Deeply research the Temperance Thought of China and the West from the perspective of ecological ethics. It deeply digs the connotation and essence of Temperance Thought through investigating it from China and the West. In addition, it reexamines the ecological ethics implication of Temperance Thought. Finally, combined with reality, this paper analyzes Temperance Thought of Socialism with Chinese characteristics under the view of ecological ethics and sets up the pluralistic unity of Temperance Thought of Socialism with Chinese characteristics. This enables the temperance to internalize into an individual conscious behavior; it also can be better applied to the current moral education and the construction of ecological civilization. As a result, people can achieve a happy life and the magnificent target of "Beautiful China".
