Comparative Study Of Film And Television Copyrights Protection

With the popularity of television and Internet technology, on one hand making television drama become an integral part of our lives, on the other hand due to the development of technology, it has brought great drawbacks to the film and television industry-rampant piracy seriously affect the healthy development of the film and television industry. With the impact of globalization on China gradually deepening, the film and television copyright protection is facing increasing international pressure, and the current domestic society has realized the importance and necessity of film and television rights protection. In order to encourage the development of film culture, to protect the film and television workers’ interests, to develop strong film and television copyright protection measures and implementation is imperatively.This thesis, based on the study of film and television copyright mainly focuses on the comparison of the methods in research. When we do some research on the similarities and differences of the protection in measures of the copyright between Hollywood and Hengdian as an example, by learning about the cases of copyright protection in Hollywood, it is fairly enough to find out that our country still lack experience in protecting the copyright of films and television programs. From this situation that the copyright in China faces with difficulties, there are some suggestions about how to protect the film and television copyright:firstly, in terms of maintaining the sound development in film industry of such copyright, it is important for appropriate authorities to legislate to safeguard rights and interests, because the Movie & TV industry is a major part of economic development in our nation; unfortunately, owing to the laws and regulations not being well established and the copyright protection followed behind these legal provisions, citizens are unaware of the importance on copyright protections, leading governments’abilities fall to some movie companies’ wishes; finally, strengthening the protection of copyright effectively can be taken by protecting legislation, being strict in enforcement of low, strengthening the guild cooperation, enhancing the legal awareness of citizens, building Internet video copyright protection system and extending the duration of copyright protection.
