Singapore, as a small country, has made great achievements in the diplomatic field. This phenomenon is worthy of study. This paper attempts to answer the question of how Lee Guan Yew’s personality is influenced by Singapore’s foreign policy. First, we learn Herman G.Margaret’s theory of personality. Then, We analyze Lee Guan Yew ’s interest in foreign affairs,professional knowledge in the diplomatic field and the degree of sensitivity to the environment.Last,we analyze the influence of Lee Guan Yew’s personality on Singapore’s diplomacy.Independence is a very important diplomatic event for Singapore. Through this case, we know that the first Lee Guan Yew is very intrested in foreign affairs, the second, Lee Guan Yew has no professional knowledge in the diplomatic field, but he has diplomatic talent, the third, Lee Guan Yew is very sensitive to the external environment.Lee Guan Yew’s personality has a profound influence on Singapore’s diplomacy. First, He has much interest in foreign affirs so that he will par more times on it and his personality will has more opportunities to influence the foreign policy-making. Second, because he is sensitive to the external environment and open to new information, so he can seize the opportunity to achieve foreign goals. Third, Top-down decision-making model can improve the efficiency of government work and reduce foreign policy mistakes.The conclusion is that Lee Guan Yew’s personality has a great influence on Singapore’s diplomacy.
