“What kind of people to cultivate and how to cultivate”areessential problems and eternal themes of education. The eighteenthnational congress of the CPC put forward that “take fostering integrityand promoting rounded development of people as the fundamental taskof education, and train participants of and successors to the socialistcause who develop morally, intellectually, physically andaesthetically”, the eighteenth national congress of the CPC alsoemphasis that “to cultivate and observe core social values. We shouldmaintain leadership and initiative in theoretical work, provide correctguidance, enhance our ability to guide public opinion, and strengthenthe influence of the underlying trend of thought in our country”, onone hand, it made new requests for cultivation of talent training ofhigher education, on the other hand, it also indicate the directions.Since new era, with rapid development with new media represented byinternet and cellphone, new media exert great importance on thoughtpattern, life style, learning model, interpersonal communication andvalues. In general, main stream of college students’ value is optimisticand positive and uplifting. It can not be denied that there are still someproblems can not be ignored and have to be solved. Thus, studies oncollege education of core social values from the perspective of newmedia is helpful for strengthening attractiveness and cohesion of socialideology and practical effect of ideological political education. Thestudy is also helpful for students for their growth and cultivation. Thestudy can also help students to became qualified inheritors who can carry on the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics.The present study can be divided into four chapters. Chapter one isan introduction which including research meanings, research status,research trends of development, research method and innovation of theresearch. Chapter two is a general review on new media and coresocial values of college students. This chapter also introducedconnotation, classifications and characteristics of new media, Students’educational socialist core values from the perspective of new media.Chapter three analyzed the influences exerted on the education of coresocial values. This chapter studied research status of students’ values,chances and challenges brought by new media. Chapter four studiedcorresponding policies should be adopted to deal with education ofcore social values from perspective of new media. First, educationalprinciples in accordant with special characteristics of new mediashould be put forward, that is to say, the principles are combinationscombine dominance with diversity, combine virtuality and reality,combine theory and practice, combine inheritance and creativity.Second, by taking advantage of new media, ways of education shouldbe widened. To be specific, using dominant roles of ideological andpolitical theory courses, sense of identity of core social values can bestrengthened among students, it is also useful to widen educationalmethods, to strengthen attractiveness and infectivity of core socialvalues, to build internet judgment system, to strengthen the guidingrole of core social values, to emphasis the importance of mediaeducation, to increase the students’ self-learning capacity. Third, itshould be pointed out that capacity and equality of educational subjects should be increased. Such as, to innovate educational ideas inorder to set equal and interactive educational perspectives. Tostrengthen theoretical and professional learning so as to strengtheneducators capacity. To master the usage of new media thoroughly so asto laid educational foundation for core social values.
