Research On Mechanism Of Male Chauvinism Ideology From Medium Affecting Male College Students

The research, based on the view of male chauvinism and the TV show If You Are The One,analyze the view of male choosing spouse in the show by both qualitative and quantitative methods;interpret the production of male dominant position and the female roles in the view of male; reveal theunreal feminism in the show and the hidden male chauvinism ideology. The object of study is focusedon the college male students. Structure less interviewing method is used and it is believed that they areinfluenced to some extent in the terms of male chauvinism building through medium construction bythe TV show, which makes their spouse choosing expectation categorized and classified. Most ofthem tend to consider personality, temperament, appearance and stature as their important judgmentstandards for rather than think a lot of the social status and personal income of women; expecting theirwives candidates to be ladykin and to play the traditional characters well as good wives and kindmothers.In the end, six male students who enjoy the TV show are analyzed as individual cases in thepaper, describing how the male chauvinism permeates into their lives and become their routine lifeway, which is realized by analyzing the three aspects of civilians idols worship: ritualization of malechauvinism in the show, aestheticization and imaginativeness of daily life.Research shows that,part ofthe male college students on television has become a ritual,penetrate into their daily lives.In thegender system dominated by male culture, aesthetic subject and object in fact has never changed.Butwith the change of economic development, ideology, culture and public education, aesthetic hasdeveloped toward diversification trend.Affected by the program male and female mate choice,malecollege students group for their favorite girl type has its own preference of aesthetic standards,Theyfeel more and the pursuit of self visual pleasure, formed their own aesthetic preference in their dailylife mate.And male college students collective participate in shaping the idol male and female guestson the stage,expressed some recognition and worship, the program icon in the male and female gueststandards makes male college students on their mate expect cognition category.
