In recent years, along with the continuous development of the information technology,the Internet has made a lot of changes in working, lifestyle and communication methods,furthermore, it also affects people’s inner world. Internet as a new media, new technology,has rapidly been welcomed by the majority of young people, especially college student, andthe various issues arising from its development has also attracted widespread concern.Therefore, researching the impacts of the Internet on Chinese and Kyrgyz college students’interpersonal communication is theoretically and practically important to improve theirinterpersonal communication ability and to promote the development of their harmoniousinterpersonal relationships.This thesis aims at discussing the characteristics of the interpersonal communication oninternet. Firstly, basing on data collected from questionnaires, we use analytic hierarchyprocess to evaluate how Chinese and Kyrgyz students use the internet for interpersonalcommunication. Secondly, basing on the questionnaires we analyze the positive and negativeeffects of the internet on interpersonal communication. Thirdly, we use SPSS analysistechniques to analyze the effects of the internet on Chinese and Kyrgyz students’interpersonal communication ability. Lastly, we make relevant measures and suggestions.This thesis has drawn the following conclusions:First, the characteristics of the internet interpersonal communication include: multipleidentities, randomness, universality, indirectness, simplicity, equality and vulnerability.Second, the overall score of Chinese and Kyrgyz students interpersonalcommunication’s internet usage exceeds5points, it means their rate of internet using is ratherhigh.Third, the positive effects of the internet on Chinese and Kyrgyz college students’interpersonal communication include: expanding communication partners, it meets their demand of interpersonal communication, to some extent; bringing about convenience to theirinterpersonal communication; deepening their existed interpersonal relationship; openingtheir communication contents; motivating their enthusiasm for communication; supplyingthem with practice place.Forth, the negative effects of the internet on Chinese and Kyrgyz college students’interpersonal communication include: causing their addiction to the internet; causing theirnegligence on real relationship; causing the crisis of confidence in their interpersonalcommunication, affecting their regular communication; the frequent change ofcommunication role on internet results in their personality disturbance; increasing theirinterpersonal communication risk; weakening their practical ability for interpersonalcommunication; to some extent, deepening the communication differences between Chineseand Kyrgyz students.Fifth, the relationship between the using frequency of interpersonal communication oninternet and interpersonal communication ability: the more Kyrgyz male students use internetfor interpersonal communication, the more active they are in communication; the frequencyof using internet for interpersonal communication does not affect college students’ dominantlevel of communication; the frequency of using internet for interpersonal communicationcause certain effects on the open of students’ communication.Sixth, from the above conclusions, we suggest four measures in terms of society, college,family and personality.
