A Comparative Study On Characteristics Of Tactics Adopted By Top Eight Teams In World Curling Championships

China began to play curling in the middle of1990s. With merely some twodecades, we ranked as one competent nation in the world. According to thedocuments and data that are available at present, we can see that many studiesare about the culture of curling sports as well as the feasibility of launching thecompetition. However, there are few studies on the tactics in curlingcompetitions. In order to better facilitate the development of domestic curlingcause, the paper classifies the tactics from a conclusive perspective so as toanalyze the characteristics of the tactics adopted by top eight teams in worldcurling championship. In addition, the paper compares the characteristics of thetactics applied by Chinese curling team. The paper delves into the characteristicsof the tactics adopted by top eight teams in world curling championship throughdocuments, expert interview, video analysis, mathematical statistics andcomparative analysis. On this basis, the paper classifies the curling tactics. Then,with the statistical software, the paper quantizes and classifies the curling tactics.Besides, combining with the characteristics of specific tactics adopted by eachteam, the paper makes corresponding comments.Through carrying out classification statistics on relevant competition data ofthe top eight teams in three sessions of world curling championships from2011to2013, the paper classifies the tactics adopted in curling contests and thenconcludes the characteristics of the tactics used by top eight teams in worldcurling championships. Besides, the paper also compares the characteristics ofdomestic curling tactics with those of seven other teams’ tactics. Based on this,the paper summarizes how Chinese team should enhance their advantages andavoid disadvantages. In this way, they can know both themselves and competitorsso as to achieve success in the competitions. The conclusions drawn in the paperare: Chinese women team is better at defensive tactics, while Chinese men teamis more excellent in offensive tactics design with better application effects. Fromthis, we can see that the conclusions summarized in the paper are representative.It can provide some references for Chinese curling team when choosing tactics tocompete with other competent teams in the world.
