Self-construal is the way how we defined ourselves from connectedness and relations or separateness and uniqueness. From the culture psychology perspect, within indicidualism, the core is the indiciduals and individuals are seprate from others. The societies is to promote the happniss of individuals. While, within collectivism, group is the basic unit, individuals must fit into them, which emphazis connectness and relationships. People from different cultures have signally diverse construals about themselves, and of others. For example, in America,"the squeaky wheel gets the grease", but in Japan,"the standing out nail gets pounded down". There are two typical self-construals. People with independent self-construal are stressed self-focused information, separated themselves from circumstance, and regarded themselves as an independent body. By contrast, East Asian cultures with emphasis of social connection result an interdependent self. Interdependent self are sensitive to information related to others and want to intimate others. They generally looked others especially close others as much as to the self. It concluded that these two images about self could and do coexist in one individual. These two self-construals could by measured by scales and many empirical researches had proved that we also could prime different self-contruals with different tasks, which had the same results with the cross-culture studies. When priming self-construal, the construal will provide meaning-making frame, people will do and think consistent with this frame. These two different self-construrals could influence, and in some cases determine, individual experience, including emotion, motivation, and ways of information processing strategies. How to get a good job for undergradutate students is a problem. There are many studenties about this problem, but lacking of perspect from self-construals. Based on the prior studies, the self-construal could influence the value of job-hunting and the judgement. From the perspect of the fundamental dimensions of social and self judgement, some students focus on whether job could promote their ability, but some may emphasize the harmonious relationship among workmates when they are finding a job. This comparison makes some students more confidence but others less confidence when job-hunting. Based on the literature, we hypothesised that independent self would stress more information about ability and bave more confidence in this aspect, while interdependent self would emphasize more information about relation and have more confidence in this aspect. The confidence of ability was from the independent self-construal and the confidence of relation was from the interdependent self-construal. When prime different self-construal, people in independent self-construal group would show more confidence in ability, and the interdependent self-construal group would show more confidence in relationship. In this study, we will explore those influences from idiosyncratic self-construal and postural self-construal.Study1was aimed to explore how the idiosyncratic self-construal affects the confidence of job-hunting. First, we worked out a scale about confidence of job-hunting, which had two dimensionality, one about ability, the other about relationship.93participants were asked to complete the self-construal scale, confidence of job-hunting scale and the general confidence scale. Results indicated that regardless of the self-construal, students all emphasized the ability when refer to ideal job. Students in interdependent self-construal group were more confidence in relationship, and their confidence was from their interdependent self-construal. But students in independent self-construal were not more confidence in ability, their confidence to find a job about ability was not influenced by their independent self-construal.Study2was aimed to explore how the postural self-construal affects the confidence of job-hunting. First, we did pre-experiment to test whether the task we chose could prime the self-construal. Then based on this experiment, we did the final experiment, which get30participants. We asked the students to do the priming task, then to finish the confidence of job-hunting scale and general confidence scale. Results showed that when priming the independent self-construal, students would show more focus on the ability, and had more confidence on ability; and when priming the interdependent self-construal, students did not emphasize more on relationship and had non-significant confidence with the group of independent self-construal.
