Difference between social distance can be said class, also can say the closeness degreeof interpersonal, intergroup relations. Close social distance helps to form closerelationships between individuals or groups, form positive relationships, create a goodsocial atmosphere. Through to the domestic and foreign related literature found, individualfactors, social factors, group interaction are the main factors influencing the social distance.For different object, the contact individual show differences in social distance. Based onthis, through experimental paradigm, this paper will study contact objects’ features,appearance, social status, the influence of the contact degree of social distance.Study1, compile a social distance measurement questionnaire suitable for collegestudents.Preliminary experiment (a), imaginative contact validity check. Via text instructionslead the subjects into imaginative after contact, depict the subjects were randomly dividedinto and not imagine content group, and social distance measurement. The results showedthat the content is pictured has no effect on social distance evaluation.Preliminary experiment (b), the experiment material presentation on the influence ofsocial distance. In the study of the subjects were randomly divided into group a paper testand human test group, two groups of imaginative contact content is exactly the same. Allparticipants are in imaginative contact program first, and then directly to complete thesocial distance measurement. The results show that the test presentation has no effect onsocial distance evaluation. In order to simplify this test procedure, has nothing to do at thesame time, and effective control variables, the following research adopts man-machine testway.Study2, the contact objects’ characteristics influence on social distance. Usingexperimental design between the2x2groups, through the imaginative contact paradigm to explore the contact objects’ appearance (good/ugly), social status (high/low) influence onsocial distance, the program is same to the preliminary experiment(b). The results showthat the two main effects are significant variables, no significant interaction effect. Andlooks better or higher social status of college students social distance between contactobjects near, engagement is strong; Contact with ugly or low social status of social distancebetween objects, engagement is weak. When the contact object looks good, high socialstatus, social distance between their contact with the object recently, and will contact thehighest; Ugly when exposed to object, low social status, subjects and the social distancebetween the contact object furthest, and exposure to intend the weakest.Study3, contact object type and contact degree of the influence of social distance.Between the2x2groups experiment design, the use of imaginative contact paradigm,discusses the influence of contact type (high&beauty/low&ugly) and level of contact(deep/shallow) on social distance. The results show that contact object types havesignificant influence on social distance, and the degree of contact no significant influenceon subjects to evaluate social distance, the interaction effect is not significant. The contactdegree deepening, the contact object characteristic appearance and social status, is stillinfluence on the subjects to evaluate social distance, social distance near the high group,ugly set of lower social distance.
