With the continuous deepening of the reform and opening up, great changes have taken place in Chinese society in recent decades. In moral area, on the one hand, we have made some satisfying achievements. But on the other hand, there also exists many problems. Under market economy, some people are driven by interests, so that some scandals such as adulteration, counterfeiting, poisonous milk, students’default of their loans occur from time to time. These events have become a public hazard in our society and have a serious impact on people’s life and the construction of social civilization. Honesty is not only an excellent tradition of our Chinese nation which accumulated in five-thousand-year civilization, but also an important norm of Confucian ethics. Confucian thought of honesty has a profound effect in Chinese history. Its basic feature is that it insists on constructing its theory in the frame of "tian ren he yi", a concept of you’tian’mins’ren’,you’ren’mins’tian’". Another feature is that it advocates the highly unity of subjective moral consciousness and objective moral requirements. Through this unity, it carries forward the subjectivity and self-consciousness of morality. However, honesty is an important category which is a symbol of the concept of "tian ren he yi" and the highly unity of subject and object. Under the influence of Confucian thought of ethics, honesty not only deeply rooted in people’s ideology and transformed into inner moral spirit for a long time, but also become a moral standard of behavior and a basic principle of value to guide people in life practice. Therefore, based on the widespread phenomenon of lack of honesty among contemporary college students, this paper uses Confucian honesty thought as a reference and focus on the development of college students’individual moral consciousness and moral subjectivity. It analyzes the reasons why college students lack honesty, strengthens the necessity and possibility of honesty education for them and puts forward some corresponding strategies for the construction of students’ honesty education system. This thesis will start from the related researches of the connotation of Confucian life concept, collate the rich Confucian thought of life step by step and pay close attention to the existing problems in life education at the same time, and then elaborate the realistic enlightenment of Confucian thought of life. This paper is made up of three parts:The first part defines the related concepts of college students’ honesty education and analyzes the necessity of honesty education for college students. Since this thesis involves many concepts, clarifying these concepts will be helpful to grasp the direction of writing the subsequent sections. Honesty education for college students is a certain demand of college students’ all-round development and a necessity of requiring the outstanding traditional culture to satisfy the needs of the times. Therefore, it should be a part of ideological and political education in colleges. The necessity of honesty education for college students is the starting point of the research of Confucian honesty education.The second part analyzes the current situation of honesty education for contemporary college students. Just as things develop ahead ceaselessly, cotemporary college students’ ideological and moral qualities develop as time goes. First of all, we should give full affirmation to the achievements of present college students’ honesty and ethics education. Of course, with the operation of market economy, everything is market-oriented, which will inevitably bring many things unexpectedly. University is the stage where college students’ three views form and gradually mature, so many problems will appear inevitably in the face of honesty. On the basis of analyzing the data from the questionnares, this paper mainly summarizes the problems and disadvantages in students’ lack of honesty from three aspects, their lives, studies and applying jobs.The third part draws the essence of Confucian thought and view of honesty and enriches the content of honesty education. This part analyzes the enlightenment of Confucian thought and view of honesty on honesty education for college students. Confucian thought and view of honesty has the nature of being broad and profound and practical in any times and has great implications on honesty education for contemporary college students. It enlightens us to master the rule of honesty education, refer to the latest honesty education theories, combine the essence of Confucian thought of honesty and form the four systems in which Confucian thought and view of honesty are vigorous. Confucian thought and view of honesty has so rich meanings that it still has strong practical guidance and enlightenments on contemporary honesty education. It can be applied to current college honesty education and promote the healthy growth of college students as well.The fourth part learns the essence of Confucian thought and constructs the system for college students’honesty education. Firstly, this part strengthens the importance of honesty education for contemporary college students and mainly explains from six aspects. Secondly, this part guides the construction of students’ faiths of honesty basing on Confucian thought of honesty. Since Confucian view of honesty has the natures of being extensive, profound and useful at any time, it has important implications on honesty education for contemporary college students. It reminds us to master the rules of honesty education, use the latest honesty education theories for reference, combine the essence of Confucian thought of honesty and guide the construction of students’honesty faith.The fifth part discusses the effective measures for college students’honesty education. In this part, the author proposes some measures for honesty education system for contemporary college students from four aspects. Firstly, create a good social honesty environment. This is a starting point from government and social media. Secondly, create a good honesty environment in universities. This job should be made up of entrance education, students’first and second classes and party construction. Thirdly, create a strong atmosphere of family honesty and require parents to be honest elders and try to be responsible. Fourthly, improve students’own qualities. Since internal factors are the root of the development of things, improving students’own qualities is the key to enhance their awareness of honesty.
