English Curriculum Standards (2011) specifies that stimulating learninginterest on the part of students should be prioritized, and the cultivation ofvarious skills is built on interest. Therefore, interest is the "mother of success"in English teaching. Vivid and lively games are used in class to keep theattention of the children so that their interests in English learning could bestimulated. Based on experiment research, this paper applies game teachingapproach, attempting to introduce game teaching approach to the practice ofprimary school English teaching for the purpose of creating a relaxing andpleasant environment for students. Game teaching approach aims at thetargets of the dispersing difficulties, reducing difficulties, improving interestsenhancing teaching efficiency.The research subjects are50students from two natural classes of GradeFour in Yonglian NO.1Primary school in Ulanhot. In the entire process of theexperiment, the teacher applied two different teaching approaches during theteaching experiment. She used game teaching approach in the experimentalclass, and traditional teaching approach in the control class. After thecomparative analysis of data gathered from the pre-test, post-test and twoquestionnaires carried out before and after the experiment, the followingconclusions are reached. Game teaching is better at stimulating learninginterest on the part of students and better at promoting teaching efficiencythan traditional teaching approach. More importantly, game teaching allowsstudents to acquire language skills in a relaxing atmosphere, which is hardlyattainable by traditional teaching approach.
