On Ways To Cultivate Socialist Core Values Of Contemporary College Students

After the Socialist Core Values featuring "Three Advocations" was put forward during the18th Communist Party of China (CPC) National Congress, both our Party and Nation attach more and more importance on it, with relative theories further studied. On December,2013, the General Office of the CPC Central Committee delivered a keynote report named The Suggestions on How to Cultivate and Practice the Socialist Core Values, emphasizing "it should be fully integrated into our national education"①. Thus, it becomes not only a matter of mainstream ideology, but also a matter of education. At the meantime, General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out at Peking University forum in commemoration of the95th anniversary of the May Fourth Movement:" Young people are the most sensitive barometer of the sign of the time, the time lies responsibility in the youth, the glorious era belongs to the youth"," The youth’ value orientation determines the future value orientation of the whole society."②Therefore, to value and intensify the cultivation and practice of socialist core values of the college students, the main members of the youth, significantly concerns the value orientation of the whole society.Contemporary College Students mainly consist of the youth born in the1990s. The complexity of their growth environment and the uniqueness of their physical and mental characteristics determine the arduousness of cultivating the core values among them. How to innovate the educational methods, how to make the core values rooted in the real life, how to keep its pace with the times, how to let it really be understood and convinced by the mass of young students and gradually transformed into their internal belief and conscious behavior, should be the key content of the cultivation and promotion of the socialist core values for the current colleges and universities. The thesis studies the cultivation of college students’ socialist core values from the perspective of the path, aiming at seeking the root of the problem in the practice, exploring the basis of the theory from small details, then following the problem-solving path to further promote the theory construction of the cultivation of the socialist core values among college students. All these are of great practical value in promoting the selectiveness and effectiveness of Ideological and Political Education for college students.From the perspective of contemporary college students, the study takes "Ways to Cultivate Socialist Core Values of Contemporary College Students" as the object, and follows the frame of logical order consisting of theory, history and reality, to start the research covering aspects like significance, path theory, realistic difficulties and path choice. To be specific: firstly, from the perspective of teasing the relationship, the study elaborates the internal relations and external conflict between Cultivation of Socialist Core Values and College Students, so as to lay foundation of fist argument and theory; secondly, from the perspective of theoretical inquiry, it describes the theoretical frame on concept, structure, and function of way to Cultivate Socialist Core Values; Thirdly, from the perspective of practice and based on theory, it promotes the urgency that the ways to cultivate Socialist Core Value need to be more scientific with the actual cultivation and practice situation of Guangxi colleges and their existing difficulties and conflicts combined; fourthly, from the perspective of rational choice, it directs the cultivation ways to be more scientific by following the progressive logical pattern with the path construction mechanism, integration measures, optimization methods put forward and improves the effectiveness of the cultivation of socialist core values among college students.
