English textbooks play a very important role in English teaching and learning. Attributive clause is a key and difficult language structure in students’learning and teachers’teaching. There are a lot of textbook evaluation studies on a set of textbooks and a contrastive study in several sets of textbooks. But the related studies on a specific language structure are little in textbook evaluation, such as attributive clauses, adverbial clauses, subjunctive mood and etc. So in this paper, the author will have a contrastive study of attributive clauses in textbooks from PEP and FLTRP. The two sets of English textbooks are widely used in Shaanxi province. This paper aims to draw conclusions and give some suggestions for students’learning attributive clauses. Contrastive analysis is mainly adopted in this paper. The contrastive study expands from the guiding ideologies, reading topics, distribution of attributive clauses in readings and grammar activities in textbooks from PEP and FLTRP. Through the objective analysis and statistics collected by the author, this paper seeks out some similarities and differences in these four aspects, as well as advantages and disadvantages of grammar activities in attributive clauses between PEP’s and FLTRP’s textbooks. In the conclusion, the author has three major findings and three implications for students’learning attributive clauses.
