Limit is an important mathematical thinking. It is a significant part of mathematicalanalysis as a major thinking methodology. Since the primary school, we have begun to beexposed to limit and gradually acquired an increasingly deepened knowledge of it. As thelinking stage between primary school’s mathematical system and that of college, the conceptof limit in middle school plays a critical role in college mathematics learning.As a significant tool for problem solving, the thinking of limit is also a kind of thinkingmethodology retaining an important place all through the mathematical history. This paperintroduces the application of limit and limit thinking in middle-school math teaching. Firstly,in terms of the relationship between limit and infinity, it introduces the development of limit,the representation from infinity to limit, and rigorous abstracting process of limit theory inorder to understand limit from a historical perspective for the reader. Secondly, in terms of thedefinition of limit, the paper explains the connotation of the limit. Last, it discusses how toinfiltrate the limit thinking into middle school math teaching. Based on the contentclassification in middle school math textbook, it introduces the application of limit thinking insequence, function, analytic geometry and solid geometry, and explains how to infiltrate andutilize the limit thinking.
