On Cultivation Of College Students’ Civic Consciousness Of Modern Society

The international competition of modern society is not only a competitionof comprehensive national strength, but also the competition of citizen quality.Theimprovement of citizen’s quality benefit from the civic education, the core of civiceducation is to improve the consciousness of citizen. As an important part of thecitizens,contemporary college students undertake the vital task of the nationalmodernization construction and development. Their civil consciousness largelyaffects the realization of "Chinese dream".Therefore, how to improve collegestudents’ civic consciousness has become an important topic for the ideological andpolitical education.Based on the professor ZhangXiuYing "citizen awareness questionnaire", we st-udy the college students’ civic consciousness by five dimensions, which is participat-ing consciousness, rights consciousness, legal consciousness, public responsibilityconsciousness, political efficiency consciousness. The questionnaire has completedtwo times of testing, the data was analyzed by item analysis, exploratory factor ana-lysis and confirmatory factor analysis. The questionnaire includes5order factor15second order factor and has been achieved measuring reliability and valid-ity of indicators. In the investigation stage,1200questionnaires were issuedand1115were retrieved. T-test and variance analysis was carried out on thevalid data,Finally, we get the following conclusion:1.College students’ citizen consciousness has reached the average level,But,There are still46%of the students’ citizen consciousness is low.2.There are significant sex differences in college students’ citizen con-sciousness in the dimensions of vote consciousness, political rights consciou-ness and social rights consciousness. Girls have a higher score than boys.3.There are significant major differences in college student’ citizen con-sciousness in the dimensions of vote consciousness,election consciousness p-rivate rights safeguard consciousness, social rights consciousness, proceduraljustice consciousness,the authority of law consciousness and rule conscioune- ss.arts student have a higher score than sciences students.4.In the dimensions of Participation in public affairs consciousness and pu-blic consciousness. Student cadre have a higher score than ordinary students.5.In the dimension of election consciousness. party members have a hig-Her score than non-party people.6.There are significant grade differences in college student’ citizen con-sciousness in the dimensions of private rights safeguard consciousness, ind-ependent consciousness, social rights consciousness, procedural justice cons-ciousness and authority of law consciousness. freshman year highest score,sophomore year plunged, steady growth of university grade three and gradefour.For the reasons presented above, we proposed countermeasures and propo-sal to improve college student’ citizen consciousness from General character-isrics and group differences. In the overall level, we should use Cultivatingway of Diversification and vertical that from the state, society, university,family and personal point of view. In the Group differences level, Due to thedifferent gender, professional, grade and identity, we must propose targetedcountermeasures.
