| As one of the four basic skills of English, we should pay more attention to writing. In addition it alsoreflects the cognitive abilities and the language skill of students. Senior one, as the transitional period fromjunior middle school to senior middle school, is significant for every student. Therefore, if the problems ofwriting in senior one can be solved well, it will has a good effects on English learning in senior middleschool and the whole life. Since it is so important, what is the situation of English Writing in senior one?Are there any problems in English writing and what are they? What should be done to improve theirwriting ability? In order to solve the problems, the investigation on senior one in Xinxiang NO.1Middleschool is carried out.There are mainly three questions to be presented in this thesis. Firstly, what are the current situationsof English writing in Grade seven in Xinxiang No.1Middle School? Secondly, what are the main factorsaffecting the English writing in Grade seven? Thirdly, what strategies should be adopted to improve thestudents’ writing ability? A questionnaire and the interviews have been used to see the situation of writingability of senior one. The results of the research show as follows: Firstly, most of the students don’t likewriting and their negative attitude leads to their poor qualities of writing. Secondly, vocabulary, grammarand others are the main barriers that hinder the development of writing ability. Finally because students arelack of writing strategies, they can’t write well. As for teachers, most of teachers don’t pay much attentionto writing and so on. According to the situation of English writing in senior one, the writer proposes somestrategies to improve their writing ability.This paper contains six chapters. The research background, motivation, objectives and so on aremainly included in the first chapter. Chapter two shows the domestic and abroad literature review. Chapterthree is the research design. Chapter four is about the investigation of English writing teaching in Gradeseven and the analysis of the questionnaire and interviews. Chapter five comes up with thecountermeasures and suggestions for writing teaching. Chapter six is the major findings, the limitations of this study and the further research prospects. |
