Objective:To provide foundation for the innovation of college’s curriculum system through the investigation on current situation and demands analysis of pharmacogenomics knowledge among the medical students of higher vocational college.Method:We randomly selected5colleges from medical higher vocational colleges in Hunan province using multistage cluster random sampling method. Then we randomly selected2classes from each school which participated the investigation, a total of904cases. Epidata3.0(Chinese version) was adopted to establish database, and SPSS17.0was employed to analyze the data. Proportion and rate were used to describe the basic characteristic of the objectives, x2test and Binary logistic regression were used to analyze the current situation and the influencing factors of students’demands toward pharmacogenomics.Results:1. We distributed912questionnaires, and reclaimed908copies. Meanwhile4copies which the missing values greater than20%were deleted. In total we collected904valid questionnaires, the effective rate was99.1%.2. Students’cognitive level of pharmacogenomics:The five higher vocational medical college have not opened the course of pharmacogenomics, Among the904medical students,89.3%knew nothing about the concept of pharmacogenomics, only10.7%knew about it. The way of gaining knowledge about pharmacogenomics:28.24%was from medical college,42.35%was from internet,χ2test revealed that the cognitive rate of pharmacogenomics between nursing and pharmacy(χ2=10.332,P=0.001), nursing and testing(χ2=11.698, P=0.001) is different. Only7.08%heard of gene polymorphism or genetic testing technology. Most of medical students did not understand the knowledge of pharmacogenomics at all. And they could not judge who need the pharmacogenomics knowledge most in clinical practice.3. Students’ demands on pharmacogenomics knowledge:61.9%of the students were in favor that pharmacogenomics curriculum should be opened. Most of medical students considered that it is necessary to possess pharmacogenomics knowledge and the basis of pharmacogenomics testing is important.4. Logistic regression analysis showed that the influencing factors of students’ demands toward pharmacogenomics included profession, grade and with or without clinical experience.Conclusion:1. The cognitive level of higher vocational medical students on pharmacogenomics was relatively low, The way of gaining knowledge about pharmacogenomics was main from internet;2. The influencing factors of students’ demands on pharmacogenomics included profession, grade and with or without clinical experience;3. In order to meet the development of pharmacogenomics and train the medical professional personnel who adapt to the new situation, it is necessary to conduct pharmacogenomics course in higher vocational medical school, and our study also provided reference for future curriculum reform in medical colleges.
