Analysis Of Mao Zedong’s Ideological And Political Education Methods And Its Practical Enlightenment

Socialism with Chinese characteristics, initiated by the first generation leadershipcollective of Central Committee headed by comrade Mao Zedong, has won highaffirmation at the18th National Congress of the CPC. Historical legacy left by MaoZedong has been popular again as2013saw the120th anniversary of Mao’s birth.During socialist revolution and building time, Mao Zedong paid much attention toideological and political education, creating his distinctive ideological and politicaleducation methods, which include two aspects: the ideological and political educationof ancient China and moral education of Marxism. The main ideas of Mao’sideological and political education methods are: investigation and research method,persuasion and education method, caring the vital interests of the people, modeleducation as well as criticism and self-criticism. These methods provide importantguidance for the current development of ideological and political education. On theone hand, publicity of socialist core values should be conducted through investigationand research, pervasion and motivation as well as setting models to solve the practicalneeds of the masses. One the other hand, ideological and political education incolleges and universities should focus on students’ ideological trend to address theirideological problems; promote model education and foster students with grand ideals;encourage students to take part in social practice to lead them to the right path in life.
