Neo-liberalism is an economic theoretical system on the basis of classical liberalism, which formed in the1930’s and developed into the dominant discourse in the1980’s as the mainstream ideology and social trend of capitalism. Essentially, the neo-liberal social trend stands for the interest of monopoly capital and services for the capitalist system. Along with the development of globalization, Neo-liberalism was implemented all over the world by the capitalist countries with belying its capitalist class nature.In china, the social trend of neo-liberalism sprung up in the1980’s. With the diffusion and prevalence of the neo-liberalism, it has a great influence on some aspects of our country not only fields of economy, policy, culture and social life, but also has strongly impacted on college students’ideological concept. As the pioneer of the new era, the college students generally are full of curiosity and good at absorbing the new ideas and concepts such as the neo-liberalism. Due to the limitation of college students’age and social experience, they could not realize the issues comprehensively so that they would be easily misled and even confused by false appearance. With the development of globalization, the Two-way or multidirectional interaction such as in the scope of economy, information, population, the communication in the field of ideology and culture between nations and regions has gradually frequent. Therefore, the college students have more opportunities to realize and accept the neo-liberalism. On the one hand, the domestic spokesmen advocate the viewpoints of neo-liberalism by variety ways of writing articles, speaking lectures, participating in academic debates and involved in discussions of hot social issues. On the other hand, the Western capitalist countries market the cultural products such as the movies and television programs all over the world which are carrying the values of neo-liberalism. The neo-liberalism impacts the college student to establish the righteous outlook on life, world and value. Under the negative influence of neo-liberalism, some students have Marxism identity crisis and lack of confidence in the cause of socialism, even more the worship of the extreme individualism and the principles of utilitarianism and pragmatism. Because of the deviation of college students’Values with the spread of neo-liberalism, there are some measures must be taken such as strengthening education on ideology and politics; guiding the college students to consciously resist the penetration of neo-liberalism in use of socialist core value system.By reviewing the formation and historical development of Neo-liberalism, refining the viewpoints and essence of it, thoroughly analyzed in this thesis are causes and ways of the negative influence of neo-liberalism and some countermeasures of these such as improving the research of the neo-liberalism; strengthening the universities education on ideology and politics; even more creating a favorable social environment and network environment for eliminating the negative effects of neo-liberalism. By a variety of means above, college students must be confirmed in the firm conviction in Marxism and the faith of Chinese characteristics socialism so as to strengthen their criticism of Neo-liberalism. Adhering to the correct direction of the education on ideology and politics, we should optimize the social environment and internet environment, promote the course of the ideological and political theory, improve the qualities of teaching staff in political and ideological education, enhance the appeal and persuasion of the Marxism for college students, and make the college students grasp the Marxism theory to help themselves dialectical criticize the neo-liberalism, and consciously defense for the negative influence of neo-liberalism.
