Research On The Impacts Of Neo-liberalism On College Students' Thinking And Behavior

Neo-liberalism has become one of the social trend of thought worldwide since 20 centuries,and has been under great attention after that.Under the policy of ‘Reform and Opening-up ',the reform of Chinese system is furthered and the process of globalisation is highly accelerated.Many western ideologies including Neo-liberalism has been constantly transferring its new concepts and values to Chinese citizens,and it has a clear impact on university students and their thoughts.University students are the future and hope of the country and Chinese nation.The Communist Party of China pays much attention to the development of university students.In the new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics,the General Secretary Xi Jinping,expresses his great expectations on young students in universities.Therefore,it is crucial to investigate the impacts of neo-liberalism on university students' thought and behaviours.On the one hand,it has great theoretical significance on the construction of the mainstream social consciousness in China.On the other hand,it helps young students in universities to build up the outlook on the world,life and values.This dissertation includes four chapters.Chapter 1,introduction,explains the rationales of this research.It also includes the literature review of domestic and overseas research and introduce the research structure,foci and methods.Chapter 2 provides detailed explanations on neo-liberalism.It presents the developmental process of neo-liberalism based on various stages,and classifies and summarises its views and values.On top of that,this chapter reveals and discusses its substance.Based on the research on 5 universities in Nanchong,Sichuan Province,chapter 3 shows the cognitive status of university students on neo-liberalism and their ways of understanding neo-liberalism.Besides,it analyses how it affects the thoughts and behaviours of university students.At the same time,it also explores the reason and ways of occurring negative impacts.Chapter 4 focuses on the existing problem providing implications in 4 fields,including strengthening theoretical research,improving mainstream social awareness education and guidance,connecting university and family education,and strengthening the guidance of cyberspace trends of thought.
