The Study On The Relationship Between University Spirit And The Undergraduate’ Development

University spirit is the fundamental element of university, whereas students’development is the value orientation of the development and reform of university. This articledemonstrated my research on university spirit and students’ developmentfromhumanist-perspective,usingmulti-disciplinarytheoryofhigher-pedagogy,highere-ducation,history,philosophy,sociology,anthropology,aesthetics,culturology,etc.and with the help ofdocumentary method, history method and comparative method. It also revealled the meaningof university spirit and students’ development and the transformation of university spirit bothin China and abroad. Moreover,this article studied the dialectical relationship betweenuniversity spirit and students’ development, tried to link them up and explore their existinglinks, and ultimately, come up with my suggestion on the establishment of university spiritwhich is focused on the enhancement of students’ development.This article is divided into four parts. Part One: Revealling the meaning of universityspirit; Analyzing the connotation of student development; Exploring the dialecticalrelationship between the former and the latter. Part Two: Analyzing the modern character ofuniversity spirit. Exploring the problem in its development and their impacts on modernstudents in global perspective. Part Three: Analyzing its theoretical basis. Concluding both thetheory of spirit and people and the theory of ecological system. Part Four: Based on theabove-mentioned theories, put forth my suggestion on the establishment of university spirit byfocusing on the construction of university system, the construction of campus culture and thecultivation of innovative talents.The potential contribution of this article:1. Choice of the subject and its perspective. What kind of university spirit is needed inour times? And what is the interaction between university spirit and student development?These questions are the hot and difficult ones in the theory research of higher education.Based on my reflection on university spirit and the current situation in China’s highereducation, I think university spirit study is a research field that needs to be constantlybroadened and deepened, especially from humanist point of view. And we have a lot to do toreveal the value of university spirit and its relating subjects.2. Theoretical argument on university spirit and student development. In recentyears, China’s higher education has made great progress. However, with the in-depthreform and fast popularization of higher education, it has exposed certain deep crisesand conflicts. In order to solve these problems, more and more farsighted-people inour society and university faculties are calling for the return and reconstruction ofuniversity spirit. Based on the law and inherent logic of university development, I putforth the suggestion of reconstructing university spirit and enhancing studentdevelopment.
