The commercial operation of the big four professional sports leagues is a successful model of the world of professional sports, the NFL is one of the best behind the pay system’s successful experience is worth to the depth of excavation. In this paper, the salary system of NFL for the object of study, in the framework of the collective bargaining agreement, the use of literature, case analysis, logical analysis, comparative analysis, the use of equity theory and the symbiotic theory to analyze the core of its payroll system content, is designed to provide a reference basis for the standardized management of the salary of professional athletes and to provide information and advice, in-depth reform of professional sports.In this paper, the following conclusions:1. The salary system of NFL after decades of development in the labor struggle are maturing, and finalized in the form of a collective bargaining agreement. The collective bargaining agreement is not only binding on the rights and obligations of both employers and employees and the Union to run the system. The pay system is the core part of the collective bargaining agreement.2. NFL salary system is mainly reflected in two aspects of the protection and limitations of the salary. Protections of salary are mainly reflected in the minimum salary of player, team and Guaranteed League-wide Salary. The club owners in general and the players signed non-guaranteed contracts, the existence of the signing bonus can not only protect the player’s income, you can also to some extent, to avoid the salary cap ceiling; limit of salary is mainly renected in the salary cap.3. The salary cap is the core of the pay system, have soft and hard salary cap, the NFL running a hard salary cap, the total salary does not allow any team over the salary cap exception to. The implementation of the salary cap to control each team spending on player salaries, good players evenly between the teams, and maintain a competitive balance between teams; protection of each team and the league overall revenue growth.4. Most of the players’contracts are unguaranteed. Although such contracts are not conducive to safeguarding the interests of the players, but it greatly stimulated the enthusiasm of the players training and competition, improve the quality of the game, so that clubs and players to get more economic benefits.5. Signing bonuses in the NFL salary system is very important. The signing bonus is the most common and secure form of salary, the money is actually paid to the players, even if the contract does not fully comply with the players can get. The use of signing bonuses can increase the flexibility of the contract, transfer of salary in different years, and effectively avoid the salary cap limit.
