In tennis matches, footwork exerts great influence on the exertion and application of tennis skill, and at the same time, the agile footwork is the guarantee to win the match. Now, just have a small quantity of the research of footwork, and just include that induction and summary of tennis step and biomechanics of tennis step, that effect are poor. Research and analysis of the specific steps, It can be quickly applied to practice. In this assay, I will take Li Na and Serena Williams as the research objects and make 9 kinds of footwork as the main content. Through the methods of document material, video statistics, mathematical statistics and also other ways, I make a research and comparison of their footwork by selecting 10 matches of the two players in 2013 and 2014 season. And below are the research conclusions.1. In the five matches for each of them, the application of nine footworks of Li Na and Serena separately accounts for 87% and 84%.2. For the nine kinds of footwork of Li Na and Serena, they have differences while they also get the common points. For the frequency of step down, hot step, reverse spin, power step, mogul step and other footwork not covered in the nine footworks, there have little difference between Li Na and Serena. However, Li Na prefers to use transfer move while Serena would like to use one foot pivot.3. The favourite way for these two players to get the points are not identical. For Li Na, she will take transfer move to get the point and Serena will choose power step instead.4. The application of mogul step and power step cause the majority of fault for the two players.5. As for receiving, the nine kinds cover the majority footwork for both of the two players. For Li Na, the application of nine kinds of footwork occupies 95% while receiving, and the data for Serena is 88%. Among the nine kinds of footwork, both players mostly use the power step and mogul step to receive the ball. The success rate of receiving for Li Na and Serena is around 76%.
