Objects:To study the change of the muscle carnosine in rat by interval training and β-alanine supplement. And try to search the effect of β-alanine on the glycometabolism in muscle and liver. Methods:Forty 8 weeks aged male SD rats are randomly divided into mild moderate doseβ-alanine supplement and high-intensity interval exercise group (A group), high dose β-alanine supplement and high-intensity interval exercise group (B group), water supplement and high-intensity interval exercise group (C group), quiet control group (D group). The exercise groups trained for 4 weeks and 6 days one week. The mode of exercise was high-intensity interval training; the running speed was 50m/min, run 6min and then rested 5min for three times. Give β-alanine to rats through gavage, mild moderate dose was 1g/kg body weight and high dose was 1.5g/kg body weight. Then gave distilled water to the water supplement group and quiet control group by gavage.4 weeks later, took the rats blood, gastrocnemius muscle and liver and test their serum glucose, hepatic glycogen, muscle glycogen, hexokinase activity in muscle and glycogen synthase, glucokinase, glucose-6-phosphatase, glucocorticoid receptor and insulin receptor mRNA expression in liver.Results:(1)Significant difference of carnosine in gastrocnemius muscle was found among exercise groups (p<0.05). In contact with C group, carnosine was increased in A group (p<0.05) and also increased in B group (p<0.01). There was significantly difference of hexokinase between C and D group, C group was lower than D group (p<0.05). Hexokinase activity was very significantly different among exercise groups (p<0.01), it was increased in A group compared to B or C group (p<0.01)(2) Significant difference of hepatic glycogen was found among exercise group (p<0.05).The hepatic glycogen of A group has been decreased compared to B or C group (p<0.05).Compared with D group, the hepatic glycogen was increased in C group( p<0.01) . Without β-alanine supplement,glucose-6-phosphatase mRNA expression was decreased in C group compared 1:0 D group(p<0.01). Compared the glucocorticoid ireceptor mRNA expression,we found very notably difference among the exercise groups(p<0.01) .Compared with A group, the glucocorticoid receptor niRNA expressio打 was decreased in C group(p<0.05) and B group(pO.Ol). There was very notable difference of the insulin receptor mRNA expressio打 among the exercise groups(p<0.01). The insulin receptor mRNA expression was increased in C group compared to B group(p<0.05) and A group(p<0.01).Conclusion: β-alanine supplementation will promote the utaization of blood glucose in the muscle of intermittent training rats, and increase liver glycogen decomposition. Medium dose effect is better.
