| Promoting social gender equality is an important mission and goal of the development of modern society. The important issue of it is how to improve family status of women that has attracting many scholars’attention. Decision-making as the major variable in the measurement of family status of women has being widely used. There is a general thought that the change of gender role attitude can affects women’s decision-making, but is that true? Whether couple’s affection can have a significant influence on women’s decision-making or not? Is there the interaction of gender role attitude and couple’s affection that can has a significant impact on women’s decision-making? To solving these questions, we have used the data of Panel Study of Chinese Family Dynamics (RR2004) to do the research about the impact of gender role attitude and couple’s affection on women’s decision-making.Through the studying, we reached the following conclusions. Firstly, as for family decision-making, people tend to make them together in the Shanghai Province, Zhejiang Province, Fujian Province. But there are still some inequalities that men have more power than women in the decision-making about family development and finance and men have more decision-making power than women in the rural area. Secondly, men’s gender role attitude can make the significant influence on women’s decision-making. The more equality men’s gender role attitude, the more power women’s decision-making. But for women, their gender role attitude doesn’t have the significant impact on the change of their decision-making on the base of our data. Thirdly, for men, when they think their couple’s affection is better, they are more inclined to share the family decision-making power with wife. But for women, the couple’s affection can make the negative and significant influence on their decision-making power, which means women don’t inclined to share the decision-making power with husband when they satisfy the couple’s affection. Fourthly, for men, the interaction of gender role attitude and couple’s affection doesn’t have a significant impact on women’s decision-making in our research. For women, the interaction of gender role attitude and couple’s affection can has a significant impact on women’s decision-making on the part of the family decision-making items, and the effect is negative. In the end, these conclusions based on our research have an important meaningful for the studies about women’s family status and the practices of promoting social gender equality in the future. |
