Research-oriented teaching is a teaching activity, pointing that teachers create a reasonable problem situation in the teaching process to guide the students to learn through research. Research-oriented teaching pays attention to students’ participation in teaching practice emphasizes on research-oriented "teaching" and "learning" in the teaching process, and finally it facilitates the organic combination of teaching and research. Research-oriented teaching can effectively cultivate innovative talents needed by the society, adapt to the development trend of the era of knowledge economy. Therefore, the theoretical research of the research-oriented teaching, can not only enrich the theoretical content, and provide the necessary theoretical basis for the research-oriented teaching practice.Research-oriented teaching is affected by a variety of Chinese and foreign thoughts at all times. Among them, the educational philosophy of Pragmatism about its theory and practice has a systematic and comprehensive exposition. Therefore, it is necessary to delve into the theory and practice of research-oriented teaching under the perspective of educational philosophy of Pragmatism. John Dewey is one of the main educator representatives of Pragmatism theory, he applies the Pragmatism to the field of education, the theory about the nature of the education, the purpose of education, democratic education and the teaching theory all have different degrees of impact no research-oriented teaching. Research-oriented teaching is based on the theory of the educational philosophy of Pragmatism, constant innovation and development of its theoretical system, and emphasizes that the purpose of education focuses on human development, and it pays attention to students’interests, teaching contents, the theory-practice-combined teaching methods, and harmonious relationship between teachers and students. These efforts have made research-oriented teaching be more scientific and reasonable, so it will make the contribution to the educational reform, innovation and talent cultivation. However, the research-oriented teaching in the implementation of the plight of facing inadequate preparation:on the subjective aspect, teachers and students as the main teaching subjects do not have enough capacity and prepared to carry out research-oriented "teaching" and "learning"; on the objective aspect, the campus cultural environment and evaluation system related to research-oriented teaching have not yet formed, all these make research-oriented teaching cannot play its role. In response to these difficulties, we need to create the appropriate conditions to ensure the effective implementation of research-oriented teaching.The paper, through the adoption of literature method, comparison method, theoretical method and other commonly used research methods, studies the research-oriented teaching under the perspective of educational philosophy of Pragmatism and aims to analyzing the educational philosophy of Pragmatism theoretical foundation of research-oriented teaching, grasps the scientific connotation of the research-oriented teaching deeply, and provide theoretical guidance for the promotion of research-oriented teaching.
