In junior middle school English teaching, target language culture can help students to understand and use English more effectively. It is also helpful to cultivate the students’ world consciousness. Therefore, teachers cannot ignore cultural education in language teaching. The New Curriculum Standard emphasizes the training of talents with creative competence and the cross-cultural communicative competence. Teachers play a very important role in developing students’ cross-cultural communicative competence. This thesis aims to make a survey of the junior middle school teachers’ perception of cross-cultural communicative competence.This thesis chooses one hundred and thirty eight teachers in eight middle schools in Shenyang. The eight middles schools includes both the public school and the private school in order to make sure the validity and reliability of this study. The researcher sent one hundred and thirty eight questionnaires in person and collected one hundred and thirty five questionnaires. Among them ten teachers were chosen as interviewees. This thesis uses SPSS to analyze the collected questionnaires. This thesis finds out that most of the teachers know what cross-cultural communicative competence means and acknowledges the importance and significance of it, but they pay less attention to it in classroom.
