| In the 27 th Asian Men‘s basketball championships of 2013, the Chinese basketball team has failed to the Republic of Korea and Iran in the group stage and subsequently failed to Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinals. Ultimately the team only ranked fifth, creating the worst record in history. With the competition qualification for the World Cup being lost, the Chinese basketball team’s performance caused uproar in public opinion.In this study, the literature consultation method, video observation method, expert interviews method, mathematical statistics method and comparative analysis method are used to make a statistical analysis of the Chinese basketball team’s offensive and defensive capabilities demonstrated in the game, trying to figure out the main problems of the team.The study result indicates that the age structure of Chinese basketball team is partially young and it has a distinct advantage of height, though the height advantage is not made full use of in this period. Chinese basketball team’s outside shooting ability has not been fully utilized and the players self-scoring ability is not enough, with the outside shooting ability not as good as the inside. Chinese basketball team’s defensive awareness needs to be strengthened, especially in the intense competition. Therefore lack of defensive awareness also leads to defeat. The unstable performance of the players, the overall lack of effective offense and the coaches’ inappropriate and unseasonable adjustment contribute to the failure of the Chinese basketball team. The team also lacks good point guards, for the the current lineup players can not achieve the ideal competitive state and can’t meet the technical and tactical requirements. The Chinese basketball players personal offensetechnology is not solid and comprehensive, with a poor defensive physical condition, which makes them not adapt to the fierce transition of offense and defense in modern basketball games. |
