| College students are the core group in the future society. Their wealth concept will affect their wealth-related moral choices and behavior, and further affect their view of the world, of life, of value and morality. Independent college students’wealth concept is distinctive, typical of the times and meaningful. It is therefore of great importance to strengthen the wealth concept education for students in independent colleges. This thesis consists of four parts:an introduction and three chapters. In the introduction, I present the background of the study, literature review, methodology, the originality of the study, and definitions relevant to the concept of ’wealth’. In Chapter One, I build the framework for investigating independent college students’wealth concept by identifying specific indicators. The questionnaire and interviews were designed by focusing on four issues: knowledge of wealth, wealth demand, wealth quality and wealth behavior. As a representative of independent colleges in Guangxi, the Guangxi University Xingjian College of Science and Liberal Arts was selected as the college to be studied. The results of the survey show that the regional differences between students are gradually reduced. The quality of students is improved but still lower than that in public colleges and universities. The wealth concept of the majority students is generally good, involving much awareness of wealth, concern with personal interests, persistent pursuit of wealth, passion for wealth creation. However problems arise when their attitudes, recognition and behavior in the view of wealth are concerned. In Chapter Two I analyze those main factors that influence students’wealth concept from four aspects:social environment, school education, family environment and personal factors. In Chapter Three I discuss the countermeasures in the wealth concept education offered to independent college students. The independent college is suggested to follow the Marxist concept of wealth, and to select those laws and regulations as teaching content relevant to the knowledge of wealth, wealth behavior, wealth management, and wealth quality. It is advisable to establish an educational system which consists of society, the independent college, family, and students, in order to help students develop a healthy and positive concept of wealth. |
