World Volleyball Competition And Prospects

Nowadays, international competition has been extended to all areas. As a complex of economy, politics and culture, competitive sports are the symbol of a country’s overall national strength, so that all the countries scramble to develop competitive sports. And because of its unique and confrontational techniques, ornamental and entertaining, diversity and broad participation and other characteristics, volleyball plays an important role in the modern competitive sports. There are a lot of scientific researches related to competitive volleyball after almost every world volleyball game. Most of the researches focus on the expanded cross-sectional study of a particular session of the world competition. Only a few of them focus on the longitudinal study of a number of sessions. Nobody has studied the world competitive volleyball pattern ever since the revival of it. In particular, the number of medals especially gold medals reflect a country’s overall strength and its highest level. Reviewing and looking back into the trend of distribution of gold medals, summarizing its development and variation, prospecting its future, all these can provide a theoretical reference for the formulation of policies of volleyball. In this paper, we will use literature, expert interviews, mathematical statistics and logical analysis to make a deep research of this subject. We will find the statistics of the world’s top three volleyball tournament, compare the gold medals of each continent and of each country to prospect the future trend of world volleyball. The inclusions of this study are as follows:1. The world volleyball develops to the three-dimension direction. European players are taller and they have longer arms. The outstanding bounce advantages help them gradually dominate the world volleyball alter. Therefore, the competitive strength of Europe should not be underestimated. In terms of height, jumping and strength, the Asian players don’t dominate compared to the European and the American, so that it’s very hard for them to restrict the European and American teams by tactical change and fast. South America lead the professional reform in the volleyball field and volleyball is very popular among the teenagers. So volleyball in South America has good prospects. The volleyball is not very popular now in Africa. But the Africans still have the advantages of playing volleyball. They are good at jumping, speed and strength. So there is the potential for the development of Africa volleyball. Man’s volleyball is still dominated by the European and the American. Woman’s volleyball is dominated by the Caribbean, the Asian and the European. In contrast, the competitive level of the Asian and the Caribbean man’s volleyball is far behind that of the European.2. Contemporary, there are different styles and different genres of competitive volleyball. The development of volleyball is thriving. The world volleyball changes from single model to different genres, from pursuit of height and strength to paying attention to the technical and tactical coordination, from personal skills to the collective and enters to an era that many countries dominate. Russia, Brazil, Cuba, the United States, China, Italy and other countries take turns to occupy “the first group position”.3. After 110 years of development and change, the development of volleyball tactical system experienced an evolution of “point- line- face- body”, which rationalizes the use of tactics, concise and effective. The development of volleyball has entered a new era. The strength, speed, height and skills coordinate closely. There are both offensive and defensive skills. The tactics are unique. The players have the characteristics of good physical condition, high psychological quality. Tactical, physical and psychological development is the new trend of contemporary volleyball. Comprehensive, high-speed, fast, changing will continue to deepen and develop to a higher level.4. Competitive ports and politics are inextricably linked ant whichever period. The involvement of politics changes the international arena. The complex international political struggles lead to the boycott of the Olympic Games more than once. As the political vassal, the competitive sports make the international arena controversy and as part of the competitive sports, the volleyball also spared.5. Volleyball becomes more and more commercial and professional with the development of its technical and tactical level. The commercial success of volleyball also promotes its professional development. The worldwide volleyball clubs recommend players to the high-level national teams. And through all kinds of professional club leagues, the volleyball becomes more popular.6. The development and improvement of volleyball are attributed to the development of scientific research and methods. Achievements of modern science and technology are introduced to the volleyball field. The competitive volleyball now uses more technologies and pays special attention to them. The integrated use of a variety of research methods is an important trend in the development of scientific volleyball research.
