A Study Of The Ethnic Identity Based On The Ethnic Implicit Theory

This research was established in universities in Inner Mongolia, with a sample of Mongolian university students. To make further steps on the fields of ethnic identity, this study choose questionnaire and experimentation to inspect the ethnic implicit theory, ethnic identity(minority identity and Chinese nation identity)of the Mongolian university students and the differences and the connections between these two kinds of ethnic identities. Then pull in the concept of implicit theory(entity theory and incremental theory) to illustrate the ethnic identity of the Mongolian university students. Conclusions :(1) Mongolian university students have a ethnic essentialism tendency.(2) Mongolian university students have a high level of ethnic identity.(3) Mongolian university students have a high level of Chinese nation identity.(4) There is a significant correlation between ethnic identity and Chinese nation identity, and the differences of these two level are significant.(5) Subjects has the implicit ethnic identity effect.(6) On the conditions of different ethnic implicit theories, the explicit ethnic identity has a significant difference on it`s level.(7)the level of the incremental theory can regulate the relationship between the explicit ethnic identity and the implicit ethnic identity.The creative part of this research is: to combine the questionnaire and experimentation methods to explore the ethnic identity. And to sort the concept of ethnic implicit theory to illustrate the ethnic identity of the Mongolian university students deeply.
