| The concept of Mind Map was initiated in1974with the publishing of Use YourHead. From1971, radiant thinking and the concept of Mind Map begin to ripen. MindMap is more efficient if combined with color and pictures which can add the interestand beauty of words and arouse people’s thinking. The use of Mind Map can alsocontribute to people’s creativity and memory. It is visualized thinking realized by takingon the administrative levels of concepts and sequence of thinking. This visualizedthinking is beneficial to think from the considerate point of view, which can improvepeople’s radiant thinking.As Tony Buzan puts it, one can improve the efficiency of taking notes, memoryand creativity when doing things by using mind map (Tony,2006).Therefore, theapplication of Mind Map in education began quickly and its use is mainly focused onthe processing of information such as synthesizing information to assist people inthinking about complicated problems. Its application to education is thought to behelpful in finding out a way useful for both teachers and students. Besides, theapplication is beneficial to improve students’ efficiency of studying. Now Mind Map iswidely used all over the world. For example, it is used in education technology,Management, teaching, business, and medical care and by both individuals and families.The study of the application of Mind Map to education teaching in China is on theincrease. However, generally speaking, researches and studies of the application ofMind Map in education of China do not have an independent evaluation system. Theapplication of Mind Map in English vocabulary teaching in senior high school stillneeds further study. However, the requirement of mastering3500words gives studentsmuch challenge (Zhang,2011).Under this circumstance, we need to find an effectivemethod to teach English vocabulary. This thesis carried out an experiment fromSeptember1stto November15thin2014in two parallel classes in Yantai number twosenior high school. The subjects involve114students in Grade2. The study has tested the application of Mind Map to senior English vocabulary teaching. This study involvesseveral research methods, including surveys, tests and interviews. The aim of this studyis to testify if Mind Map can improve the efficiency of vocabulary memory in order tomake memorizing words easier. What’s more, this study also wants to explore how totrain students to memorize English words by using scientific and effective method. Thedata is analyzed by using SPSS17.0. The results of the study are as follows:1. MindMap is useful in English vocabulary teaching and learning.2.Mind Map can arousestudents’ interest in learning English words and lead students to explore their owneffective learning method.3.Vocabulary categories are also useful for students to learnand memorize new vocabulary. By analyzing the results of the experiment I givesuggestion that Mind Map should be applied in real English class teaching. This thesisalso made suggestions for both teachers and student. In addition to testifying whetherMind Map is useful for memorizing English words, the author also explores how toapply Mind Map to English vocabulary teaching by giving specific examples of how toapply Mind Map in teaching Book5by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press.The systematic example of teaching the whole book is rare. This can not only provideother teachers with an example if they want to use Mind Map in teaching this book, butalso serves as a base for teachers to improve this model and do research based on theexisting data. |
