| The formation of important concepts is a process of thinking. The process ofthinking covers a variety of abilities, which act as the ability of biology when they getspecific to biology. In other words, the construction of important concepts can cultivatesubject abilities of students, so as to improve the scientific literacy.This study has teased out the connotation of concept teaching and subject ability;illuminated the composition and form of biological subject ability; discussed theimportance and feasibility of cultivating subject abilities in the process of carrying outthe teaching around the important concepts; smoothed out the relationship betweenconcept teaching and cultivating of subject ability. Through the questionnaire and theinterview of teachers and students of junior high schools in the city of Taiyuan, thestudy has investigated and researched the current situation of cultivating the subjectabilities of students in the biology concept teaching, and objectively analyzed thecauses of the problems. Aiming at the current actual situation of biology conceptteaching in junior high schools, and according to the main way of thinking of conceptformation and assimilation, this paper classifies the important concepts of biology injunior high school, and puts forward the corresponding teaching strategies based on themain subject abilities that relate to the basic steps of concept teaching. Finally, it hasanalyzed and evaluated the concept teaching strategies based on subject ability by atypical case. The main conclusions are as follows:First, subject ability is not only the basis of concept teaching, but also one of itsgoals. The acquisition of students’ important concepts of biology realizes on the basisof using the original abilities of every subject, meanwhile, in the process of theformation and assimilation of concept, the subject abilities of students get cultivatedand improved.Second, after investigating on the current situation around teaching of importantconcepts in biology classes in part of junior high schools in Taiyuan, the results showthat there are only few teachers who have realized the relationship between theconstruction of important concepts and the cultivation of subject ability, and if the twoof them can be combined well together, it can help students construct the important concepts, in the meantime can improve their subject abilities. In general, thecarrying-out situation in the provincial and municipal elite high schools is better thanthat in district level elite and ordinary public high schools.Third, different important concepts of biology have different strategy of itsformation and construction. While introducing important concepts by means ofexperiment, teachers shall fully mobilize the interests of students, guide students tothink actively, and make all of them “know what and know why†about the design,phenomenon and conclusion of the experiment, which can adopts the methods of“keywords analysis†and “metaphor†to construct important concepts. Whileintroducing important concepts by means of observation, teachers shall guide studentsto rationalize the perceptual materials, to catch the essence of objectives, to concludethe similarities and differences, and to accomplish the construction of importantconcepts. While introducing important concepts by means of analysis andgeneralization, teachers shall guide students to think actively, to draw the pictures ofconcepts and understand the relationship among concepts, to cultivate the students’ability of generalization. While introducing important concepts by means ofexploration, teachers shall provide students with enough space, create good studyphenomenon, and guide students to experience the difficulties in the process ofexploration, in the meantime, to experience the happiness that think brings.In a word, it is an important part of the cultivating of thinking ability fromintroduction of concept to the formation of concept, while the assimilation of conceptis the main procedure of cultivating application ability. Teachers shall choose thecorresponding teaching strategy in accordance with the means of construction ofconcept. |
