The Researc Of The Relationship Between Maternal Social Support And Parenting Self-efficacy

In this study, we use the method of documentary and questionnaire to investigate the current situation of young children’s mothers’social support and parenting self-efficacy, in addition, we also use multiple regression analysis to discuss the factors affecting self-efficacy of parenting. In the aspect of social support of young children’s mothers, we describe it from the amount, quality, origin and the types of social support. The amount of social support is the size of mothers’social support networks; the quality of social support includes the frequency of contact, intimacy, satisfaction, effectiveness and willingness to seek help; as to the source of social support, we select husband, parents, other relatives, friends, colleagues and neighbors, we choose these people because they have more contact with young children’s mothers; the types of social support is divided into four kinds of support, they are instrumental support, emotional support, companionship support and informational support. About the mothers’parenting efficacy scale questionnaire, we applied Chen Fu-mei’s scale, who is a Taiwan scholar.We choose100young mothers as the sample, and we find that the overall size of young children’s mothers’ social support network is7.23people, and kinship occupied66.11%of the total number, husbands, parents and siblings have occupied the majority, in the non-kin relationships, friends, colleagues have played a chief part. The average score of parenting efficacy is3.886, and mothers of different age showed significant difference. When we using regression analysis method to study the factors that affect parenting efficacy, we find that mothers’age, educational background, the quality of social support, husbands’support, emotional and companionship support from others can be the significant predictor.Finally the results of this study are to make suggestions and give advice. In the first place, we provide some recommendations to enhance young children’s mothers’ social support of family education. First, a supportive environment for mothers’ family education should be provided; second, improve marital relations, husbands should get a clear understanding of their responsibility; third, relatives and other non-relatives should attach great importance to accompany mothers and kids. In the second place, we provide some advice to promote young mothers’ parenting self-efficacy. First, we should put more emphasis on the maternal education, provide family education guidance; second, all parties should work together to enhance the level of social support of young children’s mothers; third, improve the quality of social support through mothers’social support network.
