Comparative Research Between Chinese Team And Opponents Fast-break Tactics In The27th Session Of Asian Men’s Basketball Championship

There are a variety of strategies on the offensive side of the basketball games, however, the essence of those should be the quick-to-win idea, of which, fast-break is the crucial aspect. Fast-break is generally used in domestic and foreign leagues, the Olympics and the World Championships. Especially when a team is fallen behind, fast-break strategy could not only help them reduce the gap of scores more quickly, but also inspire the morale and gain the whole team more confidence. Meanwhile, it definitely beats a severe blow to the opponents and forces them to take more turnovers, leading to gain more opportunities to achieve the final victory.In the thesis, I refer to some historical paper of Chinese Men’s National basketball team, and analyze the video material of their nine games in the27th Asian Men’s Championship. Through the analysis and comparison of the statistics from all the references, I draw the final conclusion:(1) During this FIB A Asia Championship, China regards fast-break as a small part of their whole offensive strategy. Although in only a minority of games, the proportion of fast-break in the whole strategy is higher than their opponents, and the success rate of the fast-break is no less than them. As we know, the higher fast-break accounts for, the more opportunities we could gain scores in the games. China has a weakness of the fast-break strategy, in contrast, the opponents perform better in this section.(2) For both Chinese and foreign teams, the beginning of fast-break is mainly from the rebounds and steals, in contrast, the throw-in balls are hardly seen. Comparing with the opponents, China’s support strategy is too simple, which is basically consist of the fixed support, and the supporters are primarily the guards.(3) Chinese national team drives mainly from the center of the court, so do the opponents. They push forward by combining the dribble and the pass, mainly1-2or2-3people are involved.(4) To finishing the fast-break, Chinese national team prefer to lay up to the basket, rarely take a dunk, and the three-points ball only accounts for a small part. Sometimes, the fast-break is blocked by foul, in the other case, they will switch to the ground offense.(5) In terms of the performance of fast-break strategy in this Asia Championship, China still has some distances comparing with the opponents. In some specific parts, we act better, however, in many other parts, we act worse. Therefore, we should pay more attention to carry out more fast-break strategies and reduce the turnovers, leading to better success rate in the games.
