The value is the basic principle to judge and during the process of social practice,it is also the fundamental standard of behavioral selection; therefore, establishing thefavorable values has an important influence on the life. In the critical period ofbuilding their values, college students should be paid more attention to. So, it issignificant to figure out how to teach and guide college students’ values througheffective steps. What’s more, in the course of socialist modernization, college studentsplay an increasingly important role and have become the backbone of socialdevelopment. Consequently, whether the college students have the scientific andfavorable vales not only has the important influence on their further lives but also hasthe important strategic significance for establishing the core socialist values. Theeighteenth Party Congress report also clearly pointed out that we should establish coresocialist values to guide social trends of thought, forge public consensus and unite ournation. As a result, in the background of establishing the socialist core values,devoting the education of values has important theoretical and practical significancesThis paper is divided into five parts. The first part is the introduction, whichmainly expounds the following questions: the purpose of the study, the significance ofthe study, the related research status and how to carry out the study, etc. The secondpart is the core of this research, which mainly analyzes the connotation of values andits main contents, and expounds the relationship between the socialist core values andsocialist core value system. It is the theoretical basis of this study. The third part is theexamining of the current college students’ values education, and it analyses itsdevelopment trend, points out the main existing problems and explores the causes ofthe current problems. The fourth part put forward four effective ways to improve thevalues among college students, i.e. playing an important role of Ideological andPolitical Theory Courses, improving students’ socialist core values education andstrengthening self-education by the network platform, promoting the ability of student’s self education and advocating practical training. The fifth part is theconclusion.
