Power is key for sports; it indicates how fast individual can express their strength. It’s a dominating factor for the sport of basketball. In modern basketball, its all about how high and how fast you can jump. Beside anthropometries factors like arm length and height, vertical jump ability is also extremely important.The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between vertical jump performance and the most traditional method of training, hang clean. Sixteen varsity basketball players from Beijing Economic University voluntarily participated in this study. They have been divided into two groups, which were control group and experiment group with8participants in each group randomly. One of the participant in the experiment group did not finish the who intervention process due to injury. During the8weeks experiment, the experiment group undergoes a hang clean training program while the control group did not do any resistance training. The conclusions are as following:1. After8weeks of intervention, the vertical jump performance in the experiment group improved while the control group did not. This shows hang clean is an effective way of improving collegiate basketball players vertical jump performance.2. Although three different jump performance all improved, countermovement vertical jump has the least improvement.
