Cooperative learning is a contemporary influential educational mode applied in many countries in the world in the past three decades. In China, this kind of teaching mode has been proved superior to traditional teaching. Research shows that when students work in cooperative learning groups they do not only achieve better school results, but they develop important skills, like problem-solving or social skills, which will be useful for them in everyday life or for future jobs. So the application of cooperative learning meets the requirement of the new curriculum reform.This paper focuses on cooperative learning (CL) which is used as a grammar error correction and revision technique and discusses the data collected in two parallel classes. The sample class corrected mistakes and revised grammar through cooperative learning, while the control class in a traditional way. Both the classes involved in this study were in their second year of secondary school, and they made a number of mistakes in grammar learning, however, students were usually rather passive both in grammar error correction and grammar revision activities. This paper analyses the results reported by the two groups of students after the correction and revision activities and the students’ communicative exchanges in error correction activity through CL are analyzed.The experiment lasted for almost16weeks. In the experiment the author adopted questionnaire, classroom observation and conducted the pre-test and the post-test. At last the author made a detailed analysis to verify the following hypothesis: The hypotheses of the experiment are as follows:1. The use of CL as a grammar error correction and revision technique can improve students’English proficiency in junior high school, particular on the low achievers.2. The use of CL can arouse students’interests in grammar error correction.3. The use of CL can help cultivate students’positive attitudes towards grammar error correction.The results of the tests show that the students’ academic achievement has been improved a lot in the sample class. The data analysis indicate in this study that the use of Cooperative Learning as a grammar error correction and revision technique does have a positive influence on error correction in junior high school.
