It has a profound significance in researching the college students’ patriotism education under the background of realizing the “Chinese dream”. Ideology has been deep challenged in face with the complicated international environment and the social situation. The college students’ patriotism education has been also challenged outside and inside. The college students, as a youthful group, have established their own value judgment and they also have their own understanding of patriotism, meanwhile they have been affected by the external factors, including the economic situation, ethos, international situation, and so on.The paper consists of six parts:Part one is the introduction part. In this part, the paper has explained the origin, basis and significance of this topic. And then it has analyzed some questions related with the “Chinese dream”, the present research situation of patriotism education both at home and abroad, as well as the research methods.Part two has studied the “Chinese dream” in detail. It has traced the history of “Chinese dream” in stages, including the dream of exploring, the dream of struggling, the dream of westernization, the dream of reformism, the dream of republicanism, the dream of revolution, the dream of construction and the dream of reform. It has researched the connotation of “Chinese dream” in four dimensionalities, including philosophy, culture, ethics as well as ideology and politics. The characteristics of “Chinese dream” reflect in the organic unification of the inheritance and the development, the practice and the innovation, as well as the present and the long-term. The enlightenments of realizing the “Chinese dream” consist of maintaining the socialist core values for building consensus, maintaining the unification of three confidence and maintaining the unification of five-in-one.In part three, the paper has firstly investigated the development process of college students’ patriotism education since 1980 s, and then it has analyzed the deep connotation of college students’ patriotism education. Based on the connotation, the paper has propounded the proposals, including broadening the horizon of college students’ patriotism education, enriching the content of college students’ patriotism education, and creating the new practice of college students’ patriotism education.In part four, the paper has analyzed the impact of globalization, reflectivity, and diversified current to the college students’ patriotism education under the background “Chinese dream”.In part five, the paper has pointed that the college students’ patriotism education under the background of realizing the “Chinese dream” need us to insist on the fundamental premise of multi-approaches, including patriotism education guided by the socialist core values, the unity of loving the Party, loving the country and loving the socialism, and the unity of rational patriotism and open type patriotism. Under the guidance of this concept, we can promote the effectiveness and contemporaneity of patriotism education by the ways of improving of environmental construction, support system, and education carrier of multi-approaches of the college students’ patriotism education directed by the “Chinese dream”.In the conclusion part, the paper further emphases that the “Chinese dream” cannot realize without the college students’ patriotism education, while the college students’ patriotism education also need the guidance of “Chinese dream”. Both of them have realized the organic unity on the way of realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
