The topic of growth of the adolescents is often mentioned, and the growth of the adolescents is related to the development of the whole country. In the era of knowledge economy, knowledge and talents are playing the more important role in the society. As a new force in the construction of modernization, the growth view and the values of the high school students not only affect the personal development, but also affect the future of our country. Based on this, I begin to do the research. This paper investigated 350 high school students in Fen Yang NO.4 middle school through the questionnaire and interview, in order to get the information about the students’ view on growth standards, purpose, the influential factors and the way of growth. In addition, this paper also analyzes the differences between students in different gender, household registers, grades as well as the educational levels of their mothers. The results of the survey show that the growth view of the high school students is generally optimistic, but there still exists some problems. For example, moral character isn’t valued enough in their growth standards; their motivations tend to be self-centered and social interest is less valued; the opinions on the influential factors is contradictory; the ways to growth is monotonous. In order to solve these problems, the author analyzes the reasons from the respects of society, family, schooling and students themselves. Finally, based on the survey results and the analysis, the author puts forward the following guiding strategies: the government should create a harmonious environment by advocating the socialist core values, the school should reverse the utilitarian values, parents should change the unrealistic expectations and respect the choice of children; students themselves should stabilize their beliefs and set clear goals.
