Issues And Solutions On Autonomous Course-choosing Of Students In Independent College

With the development of economy and society, the people’s demand for education is growing. As a product of popularization of higher education, the emergence of independent colleges of higher education is not only a bold exploration, but also playing a positive role in expanding the resources and size of university. However, after ten years of development, the quality of the independent college is increasingly concerned by people. There are some important topics for higher education management concerned, such as how do the independent college cultivate high-quality application-oriented talents? How do they follow the Ministry of Education’s guidance "thick foundation, wide caliber" to innovative talent training method?In this study, the independent college of Jiangxi A University is set to be an example. It introduces the status quo of curriculum and students choosing their own courses in the independent college of Jiangxi A University.It analyzes the problems and the causes of interdisciplinary course selection in independent college through interviews, questionnaires and document comparison. It also explores the problems of interdisciplinary course selection, such as the arbitrariness course; the weak advocacy curriculum; the lack of effective curriculum management tools and libraries methods; the lack of stable quality teachers; the wrong course selection method of students and the lagging course management and system construction in the independent college of Jiangxi A University.On this basis, it explores how to improve the ways and the methods of students choosing their own courses in the independent college of Jiangxi A university. The optimization measures are proposed, such as:to strengthen the building of teaching management and organization; to establish a sound system of education; to establish an education and teaching resources system suitable for independent college; to build a scientific, reasonable advocacy and a monitoring and feedback mechanism of course selection; to build a scientific and effective security system of course selection. It makes some explorations for continuous improvement and adjustment of education mechanism and training objectives in independent college. It also provides some valuable comments and suggestions for implementation of the credit system in independent colleges.
