Basketball is one of the important courses in universities’ physical educational course. It not only has the property of fitness, entertainment, competition, and esthetic,but also a team work with body collision. It can help to cultivate student’s physique and exercise the unity cooperation ability and strengthen their moral quality.This dissertation focuses on the investigation and study of some universities in Harbin about the basketball course, and tries to make a analysis on different aspects about the basketball course. Such as basketball teaching content, teaching methods,evaluation and teaching staff. The author used multiple method such as data by documentary, questionnaire, interviewing, statistics and logical analysis to study this dissertation. Based on this, we can explore the advantages and disadvantages about the elective basketball course in the universities of Harbin, and then make a countermeasure and strategy.According on the preceding, we can summary the state of the elective basketball course in the universities of Harbin:In the aspect of the students: Firstly, students are interested in elective basketball course and learning attitude are carefully. But under the influence of the traditional teaching mode, it unable to fully meet the needs of the students’ interests. Students have strong motivation to choose basketball elective classes but negative attitude also appeared.Secondly, university students especially girls have little interested in basketball elective class, resulting in appear the imbalance phenomenon between boys and girls.In the aspect of teaching: Firstly, students can learn basketball skill well. However,the teaching content consist of passing, pitching and dribbling and pay no attention on the spirit of solidarity and collaboration. The teaching content failed to fully meet the needs of the students. The teaching content lack of the theoretical knowledge of basketball. This inhibits the process of students from participating in basketball lifelong learning to some extent.Secondly, some universities basketball elective courses still follow the old traditional teaching way, the teaching method is also follow the traditional method,teacher model, teacher guide, and student activity. Lack of innovation. The course just use teacher model and not diversification. The use of multimedia devices can enrich teaching.Thirdly, the evaluation of the course can relative really reflect the skill of the students. However, teacher usually told the exam content to the students, and students just focus on practicing the specific skills and care no more others. The only criteria is the score. It can bring the unfair phenomenon.Fourth, the skill of teachers are good and students like them. But most teachers are focus on practical and the theoretical knowledge is not rich.Fifth, basketball infrastructure of universities are basically perfect, but some universities basketball stadiums are obsolete and limit opening hours.According on preceding analysis, we can make a strategy:In the aspect of students:First, focusing on student’s physical and metal health.Secondly, girls should be encourage and make full use of the power of boys to cultivate a harmonious relationship between teachers and students.In the aspect of teaching:Firstly, to provide a variety of teaching content for students.Secondly, to innovate and broaden the teaching methods.Thirdly, to provide a variety of the evaluation of public basketball course, and make full use of network systems for special evaluation.Moreover, optimize the teaching staff and develop the power of young teachers.Finally, to improve the university’s basketball facilities, so that the basketball teaching can be have the most beneficial influences.
