The Research Of The Success Values Among Contemporary University Students From A Multicultural Perspective

Students are valuable human resources. They are the hope of the nation and the future of the motherland. Values towards success, as an important part of personal values, play a significant role in choice making and personal achievements during the lifetime of a person. With the penetrating process of the innovation and open policy, contemporary college students lives in a social environment that one-factor commanding and multi-element co-existent, which lead to some of the misunderstanding in the values towards success in varying degrees. Therefore, develop the research of multicultural and the success values among contemporary university students, is not only beneficial to the development of the scientific conception of success of the students, also it has a far-reaching significance in the healthy development of socialism with Chinese characteristics.The main contents of this paper include:(1) A theoretical overview of the success values among contemporary university students. Through the research on success values connotation and related concepts, the connotation of success values and the virtue characteristics such as diversity, stability, ethical and unified will be explored and clarified.(2) An analysis of the impact that multiculturalism generates on the success values of the contemporary university students. Based on the connotations of multiculturalism, both the positive and negative impact on the success values that generated by multiculturalism are explored.(3) A research and analysis on the success values of contemporary university students. Four universities in Anhui Province participated in the research by filling in the designed questionnaires. The results were analyzed.(4) The exploring and analyzing of the misunderstanding of the success values of the contemporary university students. Combined the theories and the findings of the research, we found that the misunderstandings of the success values in contemporary university students are including advocating the realization of self-fulfillments, blindly pursuing power, money and fame, and the standard of success is affected by mass psychology. One of the main causes for these misunderstands is the limited impact of socialist core values, as well as the negative impact of Chinese traditional culture and Western social thought and the mass culture, all of these lead to the situation.(5) Path to achieving success values of the contemporary university students. This paper argues that the following aspects are of vital importance in establishing the scientific conception of success. First of all is to strengthening the leading role that the socialist core values play in the social environment. Secondly, universities should pay more attention on building the success values among university students. Besides, the impact of family should also be stressed.
