PurposeIn this study, we measured the physical activity, cognition of preschool children and also the physical activity of their parents in Shanghai, aiming at understanding the current physical activity situation of preschool children in Shanghai, investigatingthe effects of different physical activities on cognition of preschool children and the association between parent and their children in physical activity. Provide methodological support for studies in preschool children when discussing the relationship between physical and cognition in the future.Method306 preschool children aged 3-5 years were recruited from Shanghaiin this study. Each participants and their parents wore one ActiGraph Accelerometer GT3X+on their right waist for 7 days continuously, collecting sedentary behavior, light activities, moderate activities, moderate-to-vigorous activities. We also evaluated the cognition of preschool children by Chinese Wechsler Young Children Scale of Intelligence (C-WYCSI).Data analyses were performed in SPSS 19.0. Data were summarized as means+ SD if normal distribution. Median and range interquartile were used when abnormal distribution. Use the liner regression to analysis the effects of different physical activity on cognition of preschool children, Pearson Correlation was used to evaluate the association between parent and their children in physical activity. In the validity group, Independent-Sample T test was used to assess the differences between two groups which were normal distribution while Nonparametric U test were used for abnormal distribution. For all analyses, statistical significance was set at p<0.05.Results1. Only 27.3% preschool children in Shanghai has met the recommendation of the world health organization——accumulate at least 60 minutes moderate-vigorous activities a day for children.2. There is no correlation between MVPA and cognition, positive correlation between LPA, MPA and cognition by controlling age, sex, education, behavior score, household income and marital status. The standard liner regression coefficients of LPA and MPA are 2.164 and 2.231, indicating MPA has greater impact on cognition.3. SB, LPA, MPA in weekday night; SB, LPA, MPA, MVPA in weekend daytime and SB in weekend night has relationship between preschool children and their parents. SB has relationship in all periods.Conclusion1. LPA and MPA have closely related to cognition in preschool children. We should enhance the development of preschool children to promote cognition.2. The physical activity of parents will affect their children. Parents should strengthen physical activity to set a good example for them and influence preschoolers.3.
