Under the background that Chinese culture is undergoing the serious impact from western culture, the national sports are facing the challenge from Western athletics sports,too. Being an important national sports resource and a unique cultural background, which is enriched by Chinese traditional culture, the folk custom sport has the enormous educational and development value. The folk custom sports and the countryside schools have a kind of natural relation. It is the foundation for the sports of rural schools to be enduring and sustainably developed, in other words the great potential to be cultivated in the future sports development of China.The adoption of a positive attitude to develop and to use folk sports resources, the efforts to improve the physical education in rural areas,and the improvement on the teaching quality of rural sports, are not only the implementation of great significance for the 21st-century educational reform but also an important issue in sustainable development strategy in sports of rural schools.This paper takes the Middle school teachers and students from rural South Gan as the investigated objects, using the methods of literature material, interview, questionnaire and survey, as well as the mathematical method of average to analyze and investigate the current situation and development of South Gan Hakka folk-custom sports of that areas.including some analyze on the factors which influence its development and some suggestions of that issue.The findings indicated that:(1)Common awareness from the teachers and students in high schools and their positive attitude to embed the traditional Hakka folk sports are the certain foundation to make South Gan Hakka folk sports develop successfully in schools.(2)Concerns are paid to the middle school PE teachers in rural areas of South Gan who canmaster the traditional Hakka folk sports skills. Most of them are just qualified for only one or two Hakka folk sports, which are mastered mainly by self-inquiry and self-study on the network or video.(3)The middle school students in rural areas of South Gan mainly participate in the sports with characteristics of less demanding of ground and equipments, simple rules, easily operated and games-oriented. For example: Hits the sandbag、Hits the gravel、Gao jiaoshi、Da laoqian、Gu yaojiao、Zhua zier. However, relatively few participation are in the sports with local characteristics, like dragon boat racing、the lion dance of Hakka、lantern dance and martial art of the Hakka.(4)The deficiency of the resources and equipments of Hakka folk sports in areas of South Gan can not be ignored, along with the inadequate ability to create and to restructure sports equipments for PE teachers.More than half of middle schools in rural areas of South Gan will carry out Hakka folk sports, most of which are hits the sandbag、hits the gravel、the dragon dance of Hakka、Da laoqian、Zhua zier、he lion dance of Hakka、Gu yaojiao、Liu ziqi and so on.The distribution of time to carry out the sports is mainly in extracurricular sports activities and holidays, but less involved in PE lessons, let alone the employment of Hakka folk sports artists to guide the teaching.(5)Human factors; finance; out of experience and information; material resources; times factors which affect the development of Hakka folk sports in middle schools of rural South Gan, are all the factors analyzed in this paper.
