Emotion is associated with learning, there is no exception in computer-mediated collaborative learning. Emotion feedback refers to both sides’ responses after receiving emotional information in the communication process, it includes the combined processes about the subjective experience, physical arousal, expressions and the behaviors. With the arising of online collaborative learning areas, the researchers found gradually that emotion also plays an important role in network collaborative learning. Due to the emotion information in computer mediated communication(CMC) showing the limits, it is impossible to get the rich scenario nonverbal information like face to face, this could affects the online collaborative effect. At present, there are more and more researchers exploring the role of emotion feedback in the field of online collaboration. But, there is no agreed conclusion about the studies of emotion feedback on the quality of the interaction. Accordingly, on the basis of previous studies, this paper uses experimentation to investigate the effects of emotion feedback on the quality of interaction in online collaborative learning. The experiment adopts a mixed design of 2(The initial induced emotion states: positive initial emotion state, negative initial emotion state) ×3(emotion feedback groups : positive emotion feedback, negative emotion feedback, none emotion feedback). The results showed that:(1) under the positive initial emotion state, there are significant differences between different emotion feedback groups. The groups that present positive emotion feedback than negative emotion feedback and none emotion feedback have better interactive quality, as opposed to non-emotional feedback groups’ interaction, negative emotion feedback groups have slightly better interactive quality.(2) Under the negative initial emotion state, there are also significant differences between different emotion feedback groups. Comparing with negative emotion feedback groups and none emotion feedback groups, the groups that present positive emotion feedback have the best interactive quality, and negative emotion feedback groups’ quality of interaction also slightly higher than the same without emotional feedback groups.(3)There is no significant main effect of the initial states of emotion. The collaborators’ initial emotion states do not significantly affect collaboration task.(4) There is no interaction effect between initial emotion states and emotion feedback. The research results have certain significance for emotion feedback intervention design in online collaborative learning.
